School girls, 1989
Silver-gelatine print, 1989
Edition 2/30

Girls hold Stalin’s little busts, bought by them on the Arbat. Perestroika made it possible for the emerging "cooperatives" to produce such busts and sell them on the street from private stalls. This reflects the spirit of the times, as well as the fact that young girls easily pose topless, imitating antique sculptures.
