Weaving and knotting of ropes and fur.

68x120 cm.

Benedetta Cocco (Cagliari, 1997) lives and works between Cagliari and Venice.
She studied painting at the Accademia di Belle Arti in Sassari (2018-2021) and sculpture at the Accademia di Belle Arti in Venice (2021-2024).

The artist explores the concept of time, particularly in relation to memory, culture, and inner life, examining how these ideas manifest in contemporary society.

Her latest research investigates the potential of textile skills as symbolic generators of narratives that sometimes depict humanity's destructive violence—as seen in her series of tapestries incorporating real bullets and pieces of mines. At other times, her work portrays broken, heavy, knotted, and disfigured bodies, where all that remains is the organic assembly of the most sincere and authentic inner self—such as in her series of knots and weavings made from colored cords.

Her work is the culmination of a long journey, informed by travel itineraries that gather stories from people encountered in various countries, whether in rural areas or large metropolises.
