Masterpieces of Soviet Photography
at Photobastei
17.10-04.11.2018

RossArt gallery represents a unique exhibition dedicated to the history and culture of the USSR. Original prints present portraits of well-known political and cultural figures (Leonid Brezhnev, Yuri Gagarin,  Andrei Sakharov, Vladimir Mayakovsky, Maya Plisetskaya, and many more), art photography, and reports.

More than photographs - it is the time machine and the textbook of USSR history and culture.

Visitors will see not just photos: the history of the country and a whole photographic culture revealing itself in unique photoprint techniques no longer used. The exhibition displays unique materials: photographs taken by the best amateur and professional photographers who have already become classics of the World Art of photography in the period from the early 20s to the late 90s of the XX century. There are Soviet and Russian photographers: Aleksandr Rodchenko, El Lisitskiy, Boris Ignatovich, Georgy Petrusov, Lev Borodulin, Vladimir Vyatkin, Lev Sherstennikov, and many others. There is one common thing for all the variety of the authors: the highest level of culture and contents of the photos, photographic quality, and mastery of photographic printing.

The exhibition is organized by the RossArt gallery and takes place at the Photobastei exhibition center.

The curator of the exhibition is Vasiliy Prudnikov, photojournalist, publisher, director of the cultural project “Russ Press Photo”, Russian Journalists Union member.
